We are in Stormont this morning calling on the NI Executive to introduce Minimum Unit Pricing for alcohol as soon as possible - we believe this policy will help reduce harm, health inequalities and save lives

As an example, one year of introducing MUP could create a cost saving of 4.8 million which would be enough to deliver a 24/7 Thrombectomy service in NI. MUP could not only prevent alcohol related deaths and illness, but have far reaching secondary positive effects #MUP

This Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke event at Stormont today highlighted the impact #MinimumUnitPricing could have saving lives here in NI and reducing the pressure on our health service. We heard about the evidence from Scotland from Drs and academics who are calling for it to be implemented here.

A really interesting and important session. This is exactly the sort of action we need if we are going to be serious about preventing ill health, untimely and excess deaths and tackling health inequalities.

The Tobacco & Vaping Bill will help in the fight against the scourge of tobacco and discourage young people from smoking or vaping. We applaud the UK government for passing this radical legislation. And it must be implemented in full in NI from 1st Jan 2027. DynamicNI
