Shout out right back to Rep. Jamaal Bowman Ed.D. for leading on the issues of hunger, poverty, & food insecurity in Congress.
Healthy food is a basic human right!
Full funding for universal school meals was excluded from the final state budget, but our advocacy for #Meals4AllNY will continue. Thank you to Jessica González-Rojas and Michelle Hinchey for championing healthy school meals for all. Coalition statement ⬇️ schoolmealsforallny.org/coalition-resp…
TOMORROW 4/16: #Meals4AllNY Call-in Day & Social Media Day of Action! With budget negotiations ongoing, we must send a clear message: We cannot compromise on universal school meals.

SNAP is a lifeline for many New York families. Cutting it in the federal farm bill hurts working families, small businesses, and farms alike. While the House majority fiddles, Jessica González-Rojas and I have a common sense answer to protect New Yorkers: $100/month to supplement SNAP!
SNAP helps more than 2.8 million New Yorkers put food on the table. It is a vital support for children, seniors, people with disabilities, working families & more. We must protect SNAP from cuts that would harm those who rely on it to get the food they need. #SNAPMatters
Nearly 1 in 4 NYers are struggling to afford food as the rise in cost of living impacts many households & young childrens. But we can change this with food policies like #UniversalSchoolMeals & increasing the min. #SNAP benefit to $100. FeedingNYS
NEW: FeedingNYS Executive Director Dan Egan calls on Albany to fund an increase to the SNAP minimum benefit and #Meals4AllNY !
“too many New Yorkers receive benefits amounting to less than $1 per day. We have to do better.”timesunion.com/opinion/articl…
“NY also has a chance to join the movement of states – including our neighbors in MA and VT – in guaranteeing no-cost school meals for all children.”
It’s long past time #Meals4AllNY was fully funded to ensure that every student has access to healthy school meals.

“Think about trying to feed a family on $23 a month. That’s ludicrously low. We went out to a grocery store and bought $23 worth of food and you could see it was just a tiny pile in the basket so we’re proposing to raise it to $100” Senator Rachel May

~660 NY schools cannot offer universal no-cost meals to students. Yet 1 in 4 kids at these schools are low-income. NY is leaving hungry kids behind. The solution to equitable access to free school meals statewide: Fully fund #Meals4AllNY in the budget! bit.ly/HSMFANY-Map
This map shows the inequitable access to universal school meals across NY. Despite recent expansions, more than 320K kids in nearly 660 schools do not have access. Governor Kathy Hochul Sen. Stewart-Cousins Carl E. Heastie, let’s close the gap & fully fund #Meals4AllNY ! bit.ly/HSMFANY-Map
Let’s not.
Let’s fund universal school meals this year for all of our students! NYSUT #Meals4AllNY #Eclipse2024

We're deeply grateful for Chuck Schumer & Kirsten Gillibrand's support as we work to build a permanent home for FeedMore WNY. Over 2 years, Majority Leader Schumer and Senator Gillibrand's tireless efforts have secured $5M in federal funding to support our urgently needed new facility.
We agree that universal school meals should be included in this year's state budget. At a time when 1 in 6 New York children experience hunger, free school meals combats child poverty & supports equitable education. Hunger Solutions New York
