Today marks 80 years since the liberation of Bergen-Belsen. We remember the victims, honour the survivors, and recommit to fighting antisemitism and hate — wherever it is found. My thoughts, in particular, are with the Jewish community in Leeds on this tragic anniversary.

Saddened by the passing of Pope Francis. He was an extremely important figure, not only to the Catholic community, but the entire world. He will be rightly be remembered for his commitment to peace, dialogue and justice. My thoughts are with Catholics across the world.

This evening marks the beginning of Yom HaShoah. I'm thinking of the 6 million Jewish people who were murdered in the Holocaust. This included members of my own family. Antisemitism still plagues our society and Yom HaShoah is an important reminder of why we must stamp it out.

Privileged to lead the BGIPU delegation to IPUparliament Summit in Tashkent. In the face of rising authoritarianism, Parliaments must stand firm. They must be the guardian of democracy, ensuring that the rule of law is upheld and that leaders remain accountable to the people.

I condemn the massacre of innocent civilians in Kashmir. My thoughts are with the families and loved ones of all those affected by these cowardly attacks. It’s vital that the international community comes together to assist regional leaders prioritise peace and dialogue.

I was out speaking with voters in Doncaster yesterday and was struck by how much trust local people have in Ros. They made clear that she was the only candidate who could deliver for Doncaster and I’m delighted with the result. Congratulations, Ros!
