Censors use overly broad obscenity laws to target disfavored viewpoints, that’s why when it comes to obscenity, a narrow definition is best!

The Library Advisory Board for Corpus Christi Public Libraries is recommending changes to the Collection Development Policy that will require children under the age of 18 to receive a library card that includes restrictions set by the public library- *not their parents.*

Notice the title. Listen to the number of times “ban” is used to describe when laws restrict access to something in school. Do you think a massive amount of time will be spent arguing it’s not a ban because phones are accessible outside school? podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the…

Our children - Florida’s future - deserve better. They need us to elect people that will make evidence-based decisions. Universal vouchers are unsustainable and weaken our communities by diverting public funds away from our neighborhood schools to for-profit education.

Can we make another rule, “don’t mess with public education” and have the same bipartisan effort to protect education access for Florida’s children?

Good evening, I’m at Sarasota Schools for this evening’s board meeting, where it will vote to approve advertisement of a new AI policy. Also: Chairwoman Karen Rose is not present. She hasn’t been at any meetings since she lost her re-election on Aug. 20. Follow my thread here:

Lee County’s school library access data shows again that a majority of parents want full access to the school library and trust professionals to make curation decisions. Unfortunately, Lee’s default access is not full, so 1/3 of students are restricted due to parent inaction.

The Escambia School Board Attorney is arguing the law requires that they haphazardly (“not mechanically”) apply their policy when deciding outcomes to library objections, and the people are without a means to question their basis for deviation? wftv.com/news/local/jud…
