Blowing Bubbles Fanzine And the war time cup also featured my grandfather, Norman Corbett, who was refused leave from the Essex Regiment to get there in time to play. He arrived at half time and later received a special medal from the club. That’s him in uniform.
#Essex Western Front Association at Villers Bretonneux Military Cemetery yesterday. We paid our respects to Sjt Ernest Harris 10th Bn #Essex Regiment. He was identified thanks to a diligent #Australian researcher.

Another great trip to Normandy over D-Day. A somber ceremony at the Bayeux #CWGC run by the Royal British Legion, with another Royal Yeomanry (SRY), Essex Regt + RMP service on the 7th. Good as ever to to catch up with Colin Taylor & WW2TV Paul Woodadge and the gang for a 🍺 or 🍻. James Holland

David Blanchard A cousin, Frederick William Bulwer, 10th Bn, Essex Regt, KIA 19th/20th July 1916. In George Holland's letter to Fred's widow and infant son "they soon lost all their Officers and then they lost their direction in the wood and got surrounded by the Germans".
Lt John Hugh Allen 13th Worcester Regt but attached to the Essex Regt landed at Cape Helles on 25 May and was killed in action on 6 June 1915. He is also commemorated Jesus College jesus.cam.ac.uk/john-hugh-alle… and Anglican Church of All Saints in Dunedin nzhistory.govt.nz/media/photo/al…
For those of you who may have seem my decision to deactivate my Family History account @GrandmasEssex as part of dissatisfaction with the new twitter. I will continue with Essex Regiment at the moment although monitoring is much more difficult since tweetdeck was closed down.
#OTD in 1915 Capt Harold Tyler (Mont's House 1902-4) 1902 Mar 25 awarded Commendation for Euclid & Nov 19 for maths papers. Hockey XI 1904. Capt 4th Bn Essex Regiment. Landed at Suvla Bay, Gallipoli on 12 Aug & was KiA less than a week later aged 28 Felsted School Felstedians
#OTD in 1917 Pte Charles Bond (Servant 1911-5) Son of Henry & Elizabeth Bond of Colchester. A servant in the time of Headmaster Rev Frank Stephenson.1st Essex Regiment 1st Btn (2967) & Northampton Rgt 2nd Btn (204984). Died of wounds, in Belgium aged 20 Felsted School Felsted History
