I really love watching masters of their craft teach others. Cooking, music, boxing... topic doesn't matter. Nothing cooler than watching a true master break it down for others. A lot of humanity is embedded in the way people share their passions. We need (so much) more of that.

Have you ever had one of those dreams where, for some reason, you can't punch hard or run fast? That is the best way I can describe what teaching has felt like this year. I'm doing what I know I know how to do, but it just isn't working. One. More. Month.

Learning so much this year about how to help kids understand what and how much they've learned and how that differs from "final" assessments. Providing kids with closure while minimizing unnecessary stress is another fascinating branch of practice in this profession.

It costs $75 to pay your graduate school tuition bill. It's not part of the tuition, it's just the cost of "servicing" your on-time payment. I also received two automatic responder emails from the graduate school this morning. I wonder how the computers spend their $75?

I need so many more high school and undergrad students to see this. They're hesitant to pursue science because of the math. Imagine a world where our prospective scientists knew that PhDs were intimidated too and that it was ok to feel that way.
