Being in infosec for so long takes its toll. I've come to the conclusion that if you give a data point to a company, they will eventually sell it, leak it, lose it or get hacked and relieved of it. There really don't seem to be any exceptions, and it gets depressing.

During the Great Resignation, people who stay are paying a loyalty tax. Data on ~20k job titles: new hires are making 7% more than people currently working in the same job. Hey managers: why not offer a retention raise instead? Commitment should be rewarded, not punished.

At this stage, I don't intend to load any Optus data into Have I Been Pwned. Let me explain the reasoning: It looks like Optus has proactively reached out to impacted customers so in terms of answering "Have I Been Pwned?", disclosure and notification has already happened.

Great overview of the dangers of password reuse due to data breaches by Rachel Tobac, Evan Tobac * Find email addresses via OSINT * Password breach databases ➡️ plaintext passwords, hashes, and hints * Customized wordlist + ruleset ➡️ hashcat Be safe: Password manager, MFA

Great hack for awareness on why not to reuse or even slightly tweak passwords across different accounts. And more importantly what you should do instead. Nicely done Rachel Tobac and Donie O'Sullivan #security #passwords #cybersecurity #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth

Be aware of scammers who are upping their game in recruitment scams. Don't respond to unsolicited WhatsApp job offers. There are much better ways to find a job: use trusted resources over random messages to you. #ScamAlert #job #jobalert #JobSeekers #jobs #scam #security

The recent WhatsApp accounts takeover is simple and genius. This is how it works: You're sleeping. A "hacker" tries to login to your account via WhatsApp. You get a text message with a pincode that says "Do not share this". You don't share it, yet you still get hacked. How?
