When working with young people from trauma related backgrounds, it is vital to consider both their developmental age as well as their chronological age before teaching. Some of our young people's sole focus was on survival, and their brains haven't fully developed properly.🧠🌱

When we obsess over broken windows, we don't see the building, the neighbourhood, or the community.

When we obsess over tiny uniform details, we don't see the child, their family, or the world they exist in.

Yesterdays review from IPPR highlights a number of challenges for the 1.7 million children struggling with talking and understanding words.

The suggestion of a wider curriculum would allow children who missed out on crucial development in lockdowns catch up to their peers.

The average kid asks 40,000 questions between the ages of 2-5.

They often ask 200-300 questions A DAY.

By the time kids turn 11 (or finish elementary school), they ask almost ... none.

The correlation between schooling and the cessation of curiosity is not a coincidence.
