'This child of evil, cradled in a grave, / Suckled by darkness, [...] did not grow evil, / Rooted in evil – but put out bright flowers / Of innocence.' Looking forward to studying Peter Oswald's play Kaspar Hauser this week in our seminar on modern drama.

We had a great trip to Dymock last week. We walked through the Gloucestershire countryside and read poems by some of the poets who were associated with the area. We also visited the Dymock Poets museum and stopped for a tasty lunch at the Forest Bakehouse.

We spent today exploring the landscape of Laurie Lee's classic book Cider with Rosie. We walked through the Gloucestershire countryside, saw Lee's old house, and even had lunch at the Woolpack in the snug where he used to sit.
