Synthetic drugs pose a grave risk to global health and security. The U.S. is leading the charge by convening dozens of countries and organizations on July 7 to launch a Global Coalition to Address Synthetic Drug Threats. Working together, this Coalition will protect our citizens.

Illicit fentanyl and other synthetic opioids are the top killer of Americans between the ages of 18 and 49. This is a global problem, and our diplomacy is leading the way on bringing countries together to address it -- protecting our people and saving lives.

Secretary Albright is a personal hero of mine, and I am particularly proud to see her legacy come to life through the Madeleine K. Albright Young Women Leaders Program—part of Department of State's broader efforts to achieve U.S. foreign policy goals through people-to-people diplomacy.
