Wondering if you’re ready to start a clinical psych PhD? It’s competitive, which can often lead to unhelpful, advice (e.g., “work in a lab for two years”). Here’s my perspective on what makes a person ready for a funded PhD at a research univ, independent of age or stage. 🧵

Its the start of the PhD semester. ATM, I want to normalize temptations of social comparison to others' pubs/grants/CVs- this occurs bc academia prioritizes bean counting & incites these anxieties. But remember, everyone has diff labs/opps/goals. Focus on *your* values & goals
