#SLT2B and people with #dysarthria at our Human Communication Sciences | Sheffield The University of Sheffield clinic have collaborated to talk about the experience of living with dysarthria and raise #DysarthriaAwareness. My daughter Sarah Bethany Dickens (Scott) had a #stroke at school when she was 18 and has #aphasia She got married last year. Saying the vows was a huge challenge, one of many she faces every day. She’s resilient, like so many stroke survivors. #StrokeAwarenessMonth

Been accused of being drunk slurring, actually very pissed, when you add in my limp to my #dysarthria Yeah, it was upsetting but actually RUDE People don’t really listen, so they ask me to repeat myself. That annoys me, because if I’m tired just saying it once is hard work

🚨 RCSLT 💙 is now very excited about tomorrow's first ever #DysarthriaAwarenessDay being launched by our fantastic #SLT2B at Human Communication Sciences | Sheffield. 😠 Dʀ Kᴀᴛᴇ Aʟʟᴀᴛᴛ nee Elderton highlights it is essential we increase #DysarthriaAwareness so everyone with #Dysarthria is treated with respect.

Speech is something many people don't have to think about, but what about those living with #dysarthria? Our Dysarthria Clinic is working with The University of Sheffield students and staff to raise awareness of the condition by launching the first ever #DysarthriaAwarenessDay tomorrow (10/5)!
