I was thrilled to join UK Rt Hon Andrew Mitchell MP to announce USAID's contribution of $3 million to the UK’s global GBV flagship program, with dedicated funding to address GBV against LGBTQI+ people. During the #16DaysOfActivism , partnerships are critical to accelerate progress in #EndGBV
Really happy that USAID today announced $3m new funding for the UK’s WhatWorks2PreventVAWG programme! Looking forward to working together to pilot and evaluate approaches to prevent violence for those most at risk, including LGBT+ people 🏳️🌈 #16DaysOfActivism
On #internationaldaytoeliminatevaw I am grateful to inspiring colleagues in and outside FCDO working to end gender based violence, especially my wonderful team and the courageous activists, women’s orgs, and survivors that are leading the way #16DaysOfActivism
Join us to launch our WhatWorks2PreventVAWG report on violence against LGBT+ people. UK’s Development Minister Andrew Mitchell will be joined by USAID’s Jamille Bigio & fantastic LGBT+ activists to shine a spotlight on this urgent issue & debate what needs to be done #16DaysOfActivism
Really enjoyed our first in-person meeting of the WhatWorks2PreventVAWG advisory board ww2preventvawg.org/people at #SVRIForum2022 . Lots of great advice & reflections on opportunities for scaling up evidence-based #VAWG prevention.
What Works to Prevent Violence: Impact at Scale Programme will be holding a webinar and Q&A for Scale grant applicants on 15th August 2022 at 11:00-12:30 GMT. Register here: rescue.zoom.us/webinar/regist… #VAWG #WROs #impactatscale #preventingviolenceispossible
#Womenwithdisabilities in Low-Middle Income Countries are 2–4x more likely to experience #IPV , and are at increased risk of non-partner sexual violence. They MUST be meaningfully included in all aspects of #VAWGprevention programming and decision-making.
We are excited to be working with you too Sohini Bhattacharya Breakthrough Trust and learning from your deep experience of scaling up #VAWG prevention and keeping #WhatWorks2 accountable to women & girls in the Global South.
📣 Delighted 🇬🇧 has ratified Council of Europe Istanbul Convention on violence against women. Upholding the international framework on women’s rights is more important than ever in the face of concerted opposition. I’m proud of the UK’s continued leadership on this issue Vicky Ford MP UK at the Council of Europe
Whilst I was in 🇲🇽 it was fantastic to see the work of our regional project on #VAWG which has adapted evidence from WhatWorks2PreventVAWG to address the challenges facing women and girls in Mexico. I’m proud of the 🇬🇧 leading work in this area, hear more about it here ⬇️ Emily Esplen
Really enjoyed being part of the launch of the The Accelerator for GBV Prevention. A great initiative to drive shared advocacy for more and better funding for evidence-driven, practice-informed #GBV prevention. Congratulations to all who have worked so hard to make this idea become a reality!
Launched today: the survivor-led #bravemovement to end sexual violence against children & adolescents. Seeking transformative action to prevent violence and support healing & justice for survivors. Important and courageous work.
