What a brilliant day we’ve had doing newspaper fashion. Amazing creativity and problem solving on display plus lots of fun and laughter to boot!

The students newspaper dresses were so good they even made it onto the cover of a fashion magazine!

If you go down to the woods today your sure of a big surprise…A collection of ‘Green Men’ seem to have appeared in the Glade….

Year 2 have been looking at the work of different artists and how they painted self-portraits. The children tried out the different styles and were rather pleased with their own self-portraits including cutting their faces in half and drawing the other half.

On this grey day, I am reflecting back upon our summer exhibition. Previously unable to tweet these images due to exam board restrictions, but now the time has come to celebrate the wonderful showcase of work, including a piece of art made by every student in the school!

Year 7 are having a brilliant time at Southampton Art gallery today looking, listening, drawing, making and expand their cultural experiences.

This week year 1&2 pupils spent a day at Southampton City Art Gallery where they took part in a Printing workshop, making Christmas cards and enjoyed a tour of the gallery.

Year 2 have had a wonderful time printing this half term. Check out their wonderful winter themed wallpapers!

What a fantastic day 8A are having working with artist Jenny Muncaster exploring pattern and colour and creating these exciting abstract art works. We can’t wait to see the finished outcomes later on and to welcome Jenny back next week for 8B, C & D to have their turn.

8C have aced it with these outcomes from the artist in residence workshop today. There is such amazing work coming from the year group that I think we’ll have an exhibition worthy of the Tate Modern by the end of the week!

Last week during well-being week prep school students made lots of pom poms which are now beautifully adorning the prep school foyer as a community art installation. Wonderful.

What a brilliant last day year 8 have had on their ‘artist in residence’ workshops with Jenny Muncaster. The whole year group have gained in confidence and creative courage through working with her and all of their outcomes are a joyful delight.

Year 2 have been busy making miniature art galleries. First they researched famous artworks so that as curators they could talk about the different works on display. Then they made the art work to go in the galleries and thought about how visitors would view them.

Our Art and Design scholars and sixth formers are having a brilliant day exploring the energy of the city as part of their ‘urban drawing’ workshop. They are being encouraged to take risks, explore creative possibilities and be decisive.

Well done to our GCSE and A Level students who have smashed it in their Art, Photography and 3D exams this week. We can’t wait to exhibit their amazing outcomes when the exam board restrictions allow it.
