I am excited to share that my article, The Structural Desexualization of Disability, is forthcoming in the Columbia Law Review. Thank you to the many colleagues, friends, & loved ones who supported me by reading my piece, providing insight, feedback & inspiration throughout this process.

Different forms of personal narrative are often used by members of groups who are oppressed. Here's a letter I submitted to some law reviews when I realized that it's impossible to anonymize my work and that many others are likely in the same boat because no one talks about it.

I honestly wish this hadn't happened.

Because, since it happened, it's all I can think about... replaying the whole thing in my head, wondering what I could have done differently to avoid it happening. Different coat? Fancier purse? Not trying to be friendly?

Narrative legal scholarship is what opened my eyes to the possibilities of legal scholarship. Thanks, Elizabeth Emens for putting this together and including me with Doron Dorfman and Jamelia Morgan!

I voted today. My support worker was with me. While I was voting, an official told my support worker โ€œYou know that they can get an exemption so they don't have to vote.โ€
โ€œShe wants to vote,โ€ said my support worker.
โ€œOh,โ€ said the official, โ€œshe wants the experience.โ€

Many people helped me get here, including Arlene! Weโ€™re lucky to get the benefit of her wise counsel through the end of year. Very big shoes to fill in the disability law space!
