As most of you may know SYPs Manifesto “From Scotland’s Young People” key findings report was released today. Here are the policies that relate to our committee. I look forward to work with the committee on some of these in the next year. Exciting stuff!

Members of Scottish Parliament will today debate the general principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (Incorporation) (Scotland) Bill. Education Secretary John Swinney says the legislation will enshrine children’s rights in Scots law. #UNCRCScotland #UNCRC

Concerned to see that the gap between under 18s minimum wage and the over 25s wage has widened yet again - with under 18s getting a measly 7p increase on their wage. We must do better for young people, especially in the middle of a pandemic

Our Convenor presented a joint motion with the EQU committee today about the employment gap for BAME individuals as well as the lack of career support and advice given. This is a really important issue in this country and we urge you to back this motion today! #SYP74

Now onto Committee Motions. This is from both the Jobs, Economy & Fair Work Committee ARCHIVED & SYP Equalities & Human Rights Committee Committees on the topic of The Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic Employment Gap. #SYP74 The Motion passes with 98% of votes in agreement.
