'Unless some real changes happen in terms of the funding how family doctors are paid, skilled Alberta-trained doctors might choose to practice in another province.'- Dr. Stephanie Firgon. The urgency for the physician comprehensive care model is real.

What it means to take leave in medicine -

As we continue to see the decimation of healthcare in AB, we should anticipate more and more physicians needing to take leaves due to stress and burn out.

Take a watch… hilarious… but very sad at the same time!
For AB, there are over 800,000 Albertans who can’t get a family doctor…

The ED has become the default place to seek medical care for so many conditions that we know the ED was never designed to deal with.
This is NOT to blame the pts - this is a system failure. There is nowhere else for this care to be delivered... the system has slowly devolved...

We do not have a coordinated provincial wide HCW workforce plan occuring. My colleagues and I are very worried that things will get even worse as we create four silos in the system and NO one is doing planning for the ENTIRE province.... (for all HCWs)
