Read & share this BBC North East story about increasing sightings of #redsquirrels in #Northumberland. The 20% increase is thanks to important #conservation work, most of which is by wonderful #volunteers, with RSNE data collation. Article: buff.ly/3i4mNcQ

It is a myth that red squirrels have full legal protection. You can destroy their nests, shred young and disturb nesting animals if you have tree felling licence in Wales and rely upon 'incidental result of otherwise lawful act' defence. We need to get the laws changed.

Last chance to get your calendar in time for Christmas! Don’t forget, we can post anywhere in the UK for an extra £2.50 (free delivery on the Machars), or pick one up when you’re out and about in Wigtown. All money raised goes towards the continued conservation work of our group.

Today is all about love ❤️ but for red squirrels, mating season began in January. Female squirrels will usually have their first litter of the year in March after a gestation period of around 38 days. #ValentinesDay #RedSquirrel #RedSquirrels #Mating

💕Red squirrels are red, grey squirrels are grey…or are they?? Some reds have silvery coats, and some greys are a bit ginger! It’s not the result of cross-breeding, however, it’s just natural variation in coat colour. 📸Raymond Leinster

Blackcraig Wood, East Wigtownshire, near the proposed mining area and site of current borehole exploration, is a haven for red squirrels. Please retweet to get the word out and follow @nomineshere for updates.

I'm itching to blab about some great news for Welsh pine martens but have to keep my mouth shut. So, until perhaps late next week, here's a video of a Gwynedd pine marten & an egg.
