Taught the University of Iowa Emergency Medicine residents about the evidence behind the mngmt of DKA with a dating app-themed presentation. Initial IV insulin bolus? Swipe left. Sodium bicarb? Swipe left. SQ basal insulin earlier to facilitate a more flexible transition off the infusion? I’ll swipe right.

Just 8 years ago, we saw a ton of backlash against expanding pharmacist provided immunizations Now, pharmacist provided immunizations will end this pandemic A reminder that the turf wars in medicine are more about power than they are about helping patients #TwitteRx

Everyone is out here complaining about what their profession is referred to as, while pharmacists are out here still happily responding to “Hey, you’re pharmacy right?” #TwitteRx

In 2022, asymptomatic bacteriuria is still over-treated! To help stewards reduce urine culturing and unnecessary treatment for ASB, I made this pilot list of common rebuttals with links to evidence. Would you use this? What would you add? sites.google.com/view/asphds/as… #idtwitter

Emergency medicine is a lifestyle, not just a job. You’ll see the sickest patients, the worst luck, and the darkest corners of humanity—& still be expected to smile, move fast, and get it right every time. A thread on what they don’t tell you about EM. 🧵
