Delighted to have written Chapter 2 of this WHO report with Prof Cyrus Cooper. It shows alarming rates of unhealthy body weight remain across Europe and outlines some clear policy options ⬇️ MRCLEC Southampton Medicine

Sainsbury follow Tesco in saying they will unilaterally implement obesity restrictions. Also calling on government to reverse u-turn. Fascinating that the retailers are now calling for more regulation.

What a health tragedy if these important measures were to be revoked. 😟 Liz Truss could scrap anti-obesity strategy in drive to cut red tape theguardian.com/politics/2022/…

The UK government’s anti-obesity legislation must be sustained and expanded to break the junk food cycle - and it should be high on #RishiSunak's agenda, say University of Southampton's Christina Vogel Sarah Muir & Preeti Dhuria in this piece on The Conversation: theconversation.com/anti-obesity-s…

Evidence that more support is needed to ensure #obesity #policy is appropriately implemented and enforced. #retail regulations are the only way to change #FoodSystems to properly support population health but that can only happen if shops comply!!

It's not a central, official HFSS calculator as Sarah Muir and colleagues suggested might be needed, but Vicki Jenneson and team have created one (and it's fab). See npmcalculator.cdrc.ac.uk #ssm2023

Better late than never with updating Twitter! Presented our pre-implementation findings related to HFSS #obesity #policy at #SSM2023 last week.

So pleased to present our pre-implementation evaluation of HFSS legislation at #SSM2023 last week. Convenience store #Retailers and #localgov need more support in order to reduce #inequality. #policy evaluation necessary to monitor unintended consequences.
