Eric Feigl-Ding ... in the UK, for example, our pre-hospital providers have had "Recognition of Life Extinct" criteria for years. There is no justification, inside or outside a pandemic, for racing a corpse to hospital, endangering crew & other road users w/ no benefit to the deceased patient.
