As Black History Month approaches, it's important for all educators to understand how lessons rooted in difficult histories or oppression can inflict trauma and violence on students—and how to avoid that harm. tolerance.org/magazine/sprin…

Day two of principal transitions. I was able to spend time at Brown Summit Middle with the current principal DrKCR and the incoming principal Dr Jones-Goods. This school is going to continue the high level of achievement for students. An amazing discussion about transition.

Greatness isn’t achieved by worrying what everyone thinks of you. Don’t look outside. The praise, criticism, expectations; it’s all just noise. Look inside to your heart and soul and do your thing. Do it with love and create greatness from the inside out.

I had a fantastic time visiting Brown Summit Middle and The Academy at Lincoln in Guilford Co. Schools this morning. Every student I met today was incredibly engaged, thoughtful and articulate. Principals Kimberly Jones-Goods and Chaundra Rogers are doing remarkable work! A special thank
