This will go down as one of the most dangerous times to be a college student in our lifetime. The traumatic ramifications of what we’re witnessing universities do to their own will be difficult to quantify.

WKCR, Columbia U’s station, reports such a surge in listeners tuning in on line to their terrific live coverage that they had to go off air for a sec to switch to lower sound quality to accomodate the demand on the stream. If you can switch to FM signal, they recommend it: 89.9

This is a very sad day. We lost lives in our community needlessly, owing to an unsafe drug supply fueled by a catastrophic war we’ve been immersed in for decades.

I’ll leave everyone for now with this.

insane that columbia has locked down campus to everyone. no research, no books, no labs. no libraries, no medical services appointments, no studio or practice space. no lectures, no concerts. just the pure administrative university and its disciplinary power.

A generous donor has offered to match donations to my cousin Ahmed’s fundraising campaign. So for every donation you give, they will match it! We only have $2,500 left until we have enough to evacuate him.

Ahmed’s sister, his 2 nieces & his brother in law were killed in an air

My cousin Mohammed sent me a picture of the house that he fled from when the bombs got close. He went back to see what was left of it. And found this. Thankfully he & his little ones fled just before the bombs hit.

Evacuating was hell. They had to walk for 2 hours to Rafah. He

btw, these campus encampment sweeps mirror what happens at encampment sweeps of unhoused folks. Tents trashed, rights violated, violently displaced, & criminalized.

As consciousness shifts re Gaza & state violence, folks ought to also be radicalized against sweeps.

Are you a US-based MSW or MSW student who wants to end the drug war?

One small step is to federally decriminalize marijuana by descheduling it and removing it from the CSA.

Shame shame shame Princeton University. Two of our students arrested, evicted, and permanently barred from campus. There is nothing “inherently unsafe” about encampments. The university MAKES them unsafe by criminalizing tents and sending campus police to intimidate protestors.
