This is disastrous, hideous news. NHS England are hacking back the mental health support for hospital staff. One doctor takes their life every three weeks. One nurse takes their life every single week. These numbers will now INCREASE. Victoria Atkins - please do the right thing.

NHS England has withdrawn funding for the mental health support provided by NHS Practitioner Health to secondary care staff.

This is deeply concerning, at a time when 'mental health support for NHS staff is needed now more than ever.' Dr Roman Raczka

Recommended paper - 'What works' about volunteer companionship at the end of life?
My take home message: 'Companions do not deliver standardised care and most benefits are achieved by “being with” rather than “doing for” people.'

Today is World CBT Day.

Some helpful resources here for the public to help understand the importance of training and accreditation.

I spoke with BABCP Senior Clinical Advisor Helen Macdonald about why accreditation is important for the public.

Shaun Lintern Hi Shaun
What are the main reasons why Trusts need to use agency staff? Surely the focus needs to be on addressing the burnout/stress-inducing conditions? Improving conditions so people arent made ill by being in work? Improving conditions for workers would reduce need for agency
