No one should have to wait years for mental health support.

My Labour government will give people the support they need by recruiting thousands of mental health staff and putting support into schools and communities right across the country.

The Govt has failed to meet its target to reduce the number of autistic people and people with learning disabilities detained in mental health hospitals. There has been a 116% increase in the number of autistic people without a learning disability detained since March 2015. (1/2)

PIP shouldn’t even be in the same conversation as sickness and work. PIP is personal independence payment. It has nothing to do with whether you are working or not working, off sick or not. It has nothing to do with work. It is like Rishi Sunak doesn’t even know this.

Dear Mel Stride,

PIP has nothing to do with employment.

PIP is for moderate to severe disability and is v difficult to qualify for.

Noone gets PIP 'for' depression or anxiety. It is based on a functional analysis.

Stop playing smoke and mirrors with people's lives.

Jay

This wasn't 'misadventure' it was neglect of care that meant we lost a friend. Sophie's observations should never have been reduced so drastically and especially not because of short staffing and after she'd shown signs of distress. Devastated, still.

Every life lost to suicide is a tragedy. Every life that struggles to survive due to the lack of adequate/affordable mental healthcare is heartbreaking. Everyone who hinders the mental well-being of another is responsible for their struggles and their demise if suicide occurs.

'Gosh, we are totally surprised that there are so many autistic people!' (paraphrased), etc.
Perhaps if the Government had not spent the last 13 yrs pretending the figures were low, we wouldn't have a 'surprise' eh? They were advised. Repeatedly. For years.

It’s world autism acceptance month, here’s the book I wrote for my 18 year old self to help accept and understand my autism diagnosis.

I’m ten years on from that point and this is packed with everything I’ve learnt since.

This April why not buy a copy?

On profound autism: 'It’s not describing autism anymore. It’s just describing a bunch of things that can co-exist & a bunch of problems that people experience rather than the autism itself.' MSc Psychology and Learning Disability student Bethan in Steven Kapp's seminar

Right so when can we stop calling mental illness mental health because some of the mental illness teams don't really understand mental illness if they think it can be treated with a bath, candles, cups of tea and walks. These are all health suggestions and not illness.
