This is not protest, it is pure violence. We will have a standing army of public duty officers. We will ramp up criminal justice. We will apply criminal law online as well as offline. We will not tolerate attacks on mosques or on Muslim communities.

Remember that “stop the boats” is a political slogan. A cheap, disgusting and highly divisive slogan used by the highest echelons of politics. Rioters didn’t come up with it.

"For years anti immigration sentiment has been amplified by the UKs right wing newspapers" The world being told what our mainstream media won't tell us.

There’s no excuse for racism just like there’s no excuse for abuse. There’s sometimes an explanation. But explanations don’t make wrong actions less wrong. They may prevent future ones by learning to avoid the pathways to wrongdoing. So excusing racism is racism not compassion.

Support your colleagues who’re anxious & upset about the racist riots. Make them feel safe. Ask about their wellbeing & their families’. Don’t dismiss, minimise or deny their concerns. Don’t say ‘it’s nothing’. Let their fear be seen& empathised with. Show solidarity. Thank you.

The least I can do when I’m out and about is to smile. Smile even though my heart is breaking & aching at the state of division on display stoked by years and years of hostile propaganda & the silence on it. I hope my smile and yours bring out the best in us and in this country.

The burden of Long Covid on children & young people is significant. Accurate representation is the very least young people can expect. Please see these recommendations for reporting on #LongCovid in children & young people. medrxiv.org/content/10.110… Chloe Connor Prof Nisreen Alwan 🌻
