The first edition of J.M. Kelly's 'Fundamental Rights in the Irish Law and Constitution' is now available in ebook format via heinonline (I can't seem to link directly to it, but it's in the Civil Rights and Social Justice database).

Wonderful collection edited by Dr Laura Cahillane and Donal Coffey - it’s a veritable who’s who of excellent Irish constitutional law scholarship. So much food for thought here for audiences both inside and far beyond Ireland on constitutional design and experimentation

Now THIS is the sort of merch I’m interested in: commemorative stamps marking the 100th anniversary of the Courts of Justice Act 1924 which set up the Irish courts system, entitled ‘Creating the Branches of Government’. Thanks Donal Coffey for the constitutional memorabilia!

New article, forthcoming in Public Law sometime next year. Judges in the UK, New Zealand, and Canada frequently defer to administrative decisions that limit rights. I suggest that this is because they regard rights as political commitments rather than legal constraints. 1/5
