Lake Placid this week, time to throttle back with my “training”…then, again, what is it when you multiply something by zero?

Lake Placid week always brings 2 things to mind….there is a spirituality, a sense of community, in our game not to be taken for granted (I believe it derives from its Native American roots) and…if you treat this game with respect, it can be your friend for a long time

Congrats again to the Brown State team for being inducted in to the Lake Placid Legends Society last night in an emotional ceremony (for all the inductees)….it’s all about the relationships!

Meet Ben Spillet whose Dad Brandon was a special player at LeMoyne and whose grandfather Dan was a Legends teammate of ours at Lake Placid until a courageous battle with cancer ended and took his life in 2005….it comes around.

Found ourselves in Canandaigua, NY this weekend for Mike Pressler’s daughter Maggie’s wedding….a great night and like searching for Sasquatch, a picture of Mike without a hat on!!

Wyatt Melzer, UVA ‘12, is now on the staff of the University of Kentucky Lacrosse team. I was happy to speak with the team this evening about a path to success and come away very impressed with their commitment and organization.

On this date 47 years ago, Krissy and I were married in the chapel at the University of Rochester and haven’t missed an August in the Adirondacks since….it’s been a good run!

Sad to hear that John Parry passed recently…did more for lacrosse than most could possibly appreciate…initiated the Final Four Weekend concept, was NCAA chair when AQ’s came into play, started programs at Butler and Cl State and gave me my first head coaching opportunity…RIP

On a classic Adirondack afternoon, thoughts go out to the families of three good friends (and friends of the game) lost just since the first of the month and congrats to Sid Jamison on being selected as the inaugural recipient of the Alfie Jacques Ambassador Award.

I might have guessed that my days of helping someone move into a third floor walk-up apartment were behind me, until yesterday..,. My daughter moved in to a historical brownstone in a very cool downtown section of Troy, an unexpected gem of a small town (city).

Tell the boys it is baked ziti tonight…they’ll understand.

The bill has come due…six weeks in the Adirondacks and the grass is higher than the mower back in Virginia…20,660 steps worth of yard work yesterday and back at it this morning…thankfully, it’s a beautiful day and it’s always great to be back!

The CBS Sixty Minutes replay yesterday of the actions of the FDNY on 9/11 had the same emotional reaction from me that it did the first time I watched it….there are still heroes among us.

On a beautiful Virginia morning, the UVA MLAX team helped organize the Special Olympics 10K Road Race. The WLAX and Wrestling teams ran and the men have been helping for almost 30 years now. I did the 2 mi walk segment with Gary Gill, M & E, their buddy Kate and Sonia Lamonica.
