Psychologist Graham Flatman who misled court about qualifications may have gone beyond remit in seven other cases. How many children have been removed from mothers by family courts because of this man misleading the court? Hannah Summers. theguardian.com/law/2025/jun/1…

An interesting personal approach to an Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment from Celia Kitzinger who is also covering a contested COP case about the validity/applicability/authenticity of an ADRT. Read the blog here: openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/05/05/det…

Interesting new blog from claire martin . No ‘workings’ from the expert witness as to why in 3 months the assessment changed from ‘has capacity’ to ‘lacks capacity’. Judge decides insufficient evidence to rebut presumption of capacity

I'll be observing this hearing in person. I have my own "living will" (technically, Advance Decision to Refuse Treatment) and strong views about what I want at my own end of life - so this case really matters to me. #openjustice #NotSecretCourt

For anyone starting from the perspective that the court is corrupt and determined to hide its proceedings from public scrutiny, this whole experience looks like corroborating evidence. À Transparency Order with a duration of ‘until further order of the court’. An application to discharge it so a family member can talk about their Court of Protection experience. And an unresponsive court. This isn’t open justice. A new blog by Celia Kitzinger Open Justice Court of Protection Project

A lovely story from London cabbie who drove us to the theatre His Dad had dementia In the face of disagreement with the LA as to placement, he applied to COP to be Deputy to manage Dad's finances + decide on placement "COP is brilliant" he said, "they fixed it for my Dad" 😀

A worrying report from claire martin Not enough evidence to rebut the presumption of capacity from an unconvincing "expert" capacity report - so judge says P is free to make his own decisions. A successful s21a Deprivation of Liberty Challenge openjusticecourtofprotection.org/2025/06/23/doe…

Appalling! I would never allow someone to write that the court "sided with" one party over another in one of the Open Justice Court of Protection Project blog posts But the court gives journalists with press cards privileged access - they get advance info, skeletons + observing rights denied to me.

LB Lewisham v AE was such an interesting case about engagement. So much so, I wrote a blog about it. Please feel free to have a read. #courtofprotection #capacity #disability #housing #buildingsafety #socialcare
