I recall standing on the steps of Parliament in 2016 together with other family violence service providers, celebrating that Aboriginal women were front & centre in this report which saw an unprecedented investment into our solutions. BUT STILL TODAY, we cannot meet demand 3/9

To Aboriginal women must be seen, heard & counted. Our solutions & self-determination must be invested in. The Productivity Commission report lays out bare the truth of failure by all govts to close the gap & its recommendations must be implemented immediately 7/8

How can we celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination today when Government blatantly lacks accountability on Closing the Gap reporting, let alone progress? 6/8

The message this sends is our lives do not matter. What you don’t measure, you can’t manage. Djirra, like other Aboriginal organisations, holds critical information about women’s safety, so why is gov not funding our efforts to collect, control & analyse our stories data? 5/8

It is completely inexcusable that SIX YEARS have passed without the Federal Government making efforts to collect our data. This would not be accepted in the mainstream National Plan to End Violence Against Women and Children Djirra 4/8
