Thank you Samantha Siyambalapitiya ☸ & Fran Cochrane for the invitation. It was a great space to be in. We need more discussion on issues regarding standardized testing and standard language ideologies in SLT.

Inclusion. Disability rights. Equity. Such a long way to go.

Children are master adapters, hard wired to conform and fit in order to survive. However this often comes at a cost to themselves with research showing the long shadow cast well into adulthood.

NAS Ireland HIQA The language used in this lexicon isn’t about support and understanding. It’s insulting, ill-informed, and promotes harmful language/definitions. This is what happens when you develop language about a group you didn’t consult with.

Environments imho impact most on . Human + environment = outcome, based on Luke Beardon golden equation. We are as much an environment as physical aspects. Are we listening to experiences or trying to fix neurology? We need different destinations & tools to get there

These targets need to to be NDinformed
* turn taking (what about infodumping, asynchronous turns? all communication, all valid Divergent Perspectives)
* symbolic play (all play is valid ➡️ Elise Guthrie Stirling)
* Listening & attention (what about interest led monotropic minds?)

Wore this from alli ☼ in rainbows

My daughter asked me why I was wearing a trans T-shirt at an Autistic conference

I explained when we have a platform it is a privilege we don’t waste on ourselves- we use it to elevate the more marginalised in our community
