Valuable and practical insight from Dr. Mike P. Moffatt 🇨🇦🏅🏅 on what’s required to address Ottawa’s (and Ontario’s) generational crisis on the affordability of housing. I’ll write about this in my next newsletter. Some good changes happening, but much more needs to be done.

Great conversation taking place at conference, emphasizing the importance that downtowns play in the health of cities on the whole. Mary Rowe from Canadian Urban Institute urges us not to create divides between urban and rural communities.

For anyone curious about Ottawa's plans to move towards 'no parking minimums' in the new Zoning By-law, here's a great article by Elyse Skura about how other cities have enacted this practice to great success. cbc.ca/news/canada/ot…

“Love for all. Hatred for none.” A lovely message of greetings at the Eid Dinner on the Hill, which is certainly a political who’s who. Councillors, MPPs, MPs, federal Ministers, the Mayor and the PM, all here to celebrate Eid.

Glad to be at today’s 2023 Transecure Awards for OC Transpo. Among many staff acknowledged were one bus driver with 45 years accident-free, plus another driver who saved a 3 yr old child from choking. Bravo!

I've just learned that Ontario gov't plans to phase out free testing of water from private wells. This is a public health concern to many in Ward 9, as well as rural residents living on private wells. I've written to Ottawa Public Health and staff. msn.com/en-ca/news/oth…

My colleague Stéphanie Plante 🇨🇦🇨🇭 is kicking butt with her opening remarks. She has definitely warmed up this crowd. To borrow from Jerry’s mom on Seinfeld: “How could anyone not like her?!” Way to go, Plante!

Thanks, but…your math is off. Right now if you commuted 2x per day, 5x per week, 4 wks per mth, buying a pass at $128.75 = $3.20 per trip. Single fare is $3.80. Would you pay $75 for a 20-trip pass at &3.50 per trip, even if that pass had a time limit of one month?
