Really saddened to hear about Sir David Goldberg’s death earlier today. A giant of psychiatry has gone. His legacy in primary care psychiatry and social psychiatry will live forever. My thoughts are with his family and friends. RIP David, will miss you.🙏🏼

This is really a stunning paper. Cyanobacteria exposed to shorter days (in the lab) "rewire" their membrane lipids to anticipate cold weather. When those cells are plunged into cold water, they have "two or three-times higher survival" than cells exposed to longer days.

nature.com/articles/s4155… Woah! "At the deepest phylogenetic levels, ancestral habitat reconstruction analyses suggest that eukaryotes may have first evolved in non-marine habitats and that the two largest known eukaryotic assemblages arose in different habitats."
