It was #RockYourMocs day in grade 1/2. We learned about the artist Adrianna from Sandy Lake First Nation who made this custom pair of moccasins! We talked about how each pair is hand made with instructions and art forms taught from generation to generation.

Student voice is important in 1/2. We polled the class on what item should be held to symbolize who is speaking during community circles. Democracy (and mathematics) in action! Ask and you shall receive!

Day 2 Lakehead University Orillia for #IKMath2023. Today was all about birch bark baskets, & the cultural teachings of the experience. The math connections during this task were so evident. We talked SA, V, Cap. , and informal methods of measurement. Oh! And assembled my loom bracelet!
