The Society would like to thank those who attended today’s Annual Luncheon Meeting and Awards Presentation. We were honored to present the 6th CT Regiment with the Dorothy Larson Award, Al Misiewicz the David Humphreys Award and the Valley Quail & Ale the John I. Howe Award.

I had a great time as usual talking about the Derby Historical Society and so many other Derby topics including the Connecticut Public Transportation Council, the The Waterbury Line, the Derby Board of Education and the upcoming state representative race in the 104th with the The Valley Indy.

Thank you to all those who donated to the Derby Historical Society during the Great Give. We appreciate the critical support in helping us fulfill our mission of preserving, maintaining, and celebrating the rich and varied history of the Lower Naugatuck River Valley.

The Derby-Shelton parade was one for the books today! We represented the Past, Present and the Future of History. The kids were troopers as it did rain on our parade, but we honored those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.

And that’s a wrap!!! Last day of A Day in 1762 program has come to an end for this school year! This year was challenging, but we got through like we always do! (Not pictured is Mistress Maria) Until Fall, now time to enjoy the summer.

Join us at the David Humphreys House for this FREE performance on Saturday at 11:00 am by actress and historical reenactor, Kandie Carle as the Victorian Lady.   Dressing in actual vintage clothing and accessories, Kandie Carle provides a view of a magnificent era in history.

Thanks to all who joined us for Kandie Carle and the Victorian Lady as she dressed in actual vintage and authentically reproduced undergarments, clothing and accessories and talked about fashion, home life and etiquette of men and women during the Victorian time period.

I was honored to be a Declaration of Independence reader at the Catholic War Veterans St.Michael's Post 1562 Celebration of Independence Day event at the Derby Green. It was a great reminder of the sacrifices that our forefathers made to ensure that we were a free nation.
