Crucial that #wha77 grants a new lease on life for the negotiations on the new pandemic treaty. The next one is coming - now is time to prepare.

Maintaining children's spirits in a frightening atmosphere is one of the critical humanitarian services provided by Ukrainian Red Cross. Great work shown here by URCS' Mykolaiv regional branch.

One year since the Kakhovka Dam destruction, access to clean water remains one of the major challenges for people in the affected areas. Ukrainian Red Cross alongside @IFRC supports the communities through installing water purifying systems and covering other urgent needs.

As pointed out by our Regional Director, in Ukraine, the international community has a historic opportunity to make good on the promise of early recovery.

Great to see a strong focus on "the human dimension" at this year's Ukraine Recovery Conference. Recovery aid must address needs that humanitarian aid cannot (e.g. for IDPs). But we still need stronger clarity and agreement on the role of civil society. urc-international.com

Ukrainian civil society is ready to play a strong role in early and long-term recovery. Their concrete asks: 👉 include them in recovery strategy development 👉 legal frameworks on equal access to social services 👉 consistency in procurement of social service providers

We can seize the opportunity to scale up early recovery in Ukraine - partucularly but not only in the west. Ukrainian Red Cross is already working hard on this.

⚡️Kharkiv. Yesterday,Russian strikes targeted civilian infrastructure, hitting a private sector facility and an educational institution. One person was killed and one injured. We worked at the sites of the strikes, provided first aid to the victims. #NotATarget #ThankYouVolunteer

This unglamorous scene was actually the occasion to celebrate the significant progress that Ukrainian Red Cross has made in helping IDPs and others in need to get jobs or start new businesses. Congrats also to Cruz Roja Española and other partners for their effective support.

Inspiring to meet up with Ukrainian Red Cross emergency responders as they train. 10 years ago, URCS established its first Emergency Response Team. Today, with 600+ trained volunteers, they are responding to emergencies across Ukraine, offering vital help to those in need.

For over two years, Ukrainian Red Cross staff and volunteers like Oleksandr have risked their lives to bring emergency support to those in need. On #WorldHumanitarianDay, we recall that humanitarians, civilians and civilian infrastructure are #notatarget.

In preparation for what is likely to be a difficult winter, @IFRC, ICRC Ukraine, and Ukrainian Red Cross hosted a meeting today with diplomatic and humanitarian partners. Our priority is to be ready, coordinated and practical in supporting Ukraine’s most vulnerable.
