With so many lovely folks doing stuff in Classics, it would be WRONG not to nominate someone for one of our SIX awards.

In fact, why not nominate someone for each of them?

A fine example showing how archaeological earthworks are progressively obliterated from the landscape surface by agricultural ploughing. Clockwise from top right we have well-preserved (in woodland), partly ploughed out, then totally erased. Gaer Hill, near St. Arvans, S. Wales

Clive Trueman (clivetrue.bsky.social) Dr Alex Bond It is. The people leaving often have decades of experience working with the museum collections. This kind of loss is generational. Those surviving are faced with downgraded salaries and multiplying workloads.
Imagine how this impacts the risks of catastrophic losses.

Desperately sad news.
Museums are treasure houses of objects and knowledge, founts of inspiration for future generations, places of wonder - and research. Places that invite us to see ourselves in a deep, wide context.
Our society and culture is impoverished if we lose them.
