AI has completely changed how I discover knowledge. I felt it was a reasonable assumption that psql would support exporting results of a query as CSV. But I had no clue about the syntax. Savvy made short work my query. It even told me how to add a csv header.

An underrated use of LLMs is recovering from ugly git situations. I did some work a couple days ago that somehow got overwritten. It's all present in the reflog though. I asked ChatGPT for a script that recovers/applies those changes, leaving merge conflicts for me to fix.

Do you use AI to help you write? I'm working on a docs site for Plandex , and I had to turn off GH Copilot for markdown files. As massive as I find the productivity boost from AI tools for coding (> 2x for me conservatively), with current capabilities I find it's a net

We’re going to spend just as much time writing software. It’s just going to be bigger and better software. As tools improve, standards increase. You can do in a day what used to take weeks. But so can everyone else.

States like inspiration and creativity seem to correlate in an interesting way with ‘temperature’, ‘top p’, and other LLM inputs. By turning up the randomness and accepting a wider range of output, you get more nonsense, but you also (potentially) get more novel insights and

A new skill with the advent of long-reasoning AI like o1 pro and deep research is juggling lots of parallel tasks. While one prompt is processing, you start up a few more, then get back to the first just as it’s finishing.
