No cameras / streaming allowed in the US Supreme Court? Compare to the public display, of both advocacy and judgment, in the UKSC. Seems like a low cost, simple tech way to increase transparency & hence confidence in important institutions, which is sorely lacking in recent times

Brilliant event on Legal Design hosted by Sheffield Legal Hackers . Thank you very much to Emily MacLoud and DC who were very engaging speakers. I’m so excited to be on the Sheffield Legal Hackers team and can’t wait for our future events! #lawtech

Here is a piece from DC documenting a #legaldesign sprint to improve how to communicate crucial rights to people facing criminal charges in the UK: medium.com/legal-design-a… -- a great reflection on how to run an r&d sprint in the #accesstojustice space.

Exploring what Donoghue v Stevenson (the Snail in Bottle case) might look like through the lens of legal/service design, and why the exercise more generally could be useful in law schools: damiancurran.com/2019/12/14/app…

To “zoom out” means to set aside the detail and looking at the big picture. But with modern UI technology, and a generation adept at mapping software and pinch-zoom, perhaps it doesn’t need to be a metaphor? I explore some interface possibilities here: damiancurran.com/2019/12/24/zoo…

Whatever happens from here, I’ll always be grateful to Bernie for being the only candidate with a policy platform that includes the right to vote for incarcerated ppl. I spend a lot of time w/folks in prison & know how much this means to them. It’s made them feel less invisible.

Any book recommendations on the history and affect of cholera outbreak and its effect on laws, institutions and infrastructure, especially on London / UK?

Are there tools which allow group video chats with multiple conversations / streams going at once? Something that replicates a party or pub, where everyone is in a room together and can see each other, but you can have private conversations on the side.

When the lock-downs are lifted, some remote practices will continue, but others will revert. Enough people will acknowledge that much of this stuff is easy, cheap and seamless online. And yet we’ll be acutely aware of how much we value a hug, a hand shake, and the din of a crowd:

Hi #legaldesign twitter! Is anyone aware of any studies or guidance on what % of consumer law users actually afford and use lawyers -v- those that just use self help / self rep?

I calculated how the market share (no. of customers) of a consumer law /#A2J product might be calculated. I used tenancy disputes in Aus as an example, but the methods and assumptions have wider application for both for-profit and NFP organisations: damiancurran.com/2020/07/31/cal…
