The Engineer YOs & Combat Engineer Course FTX started with a bang yesterday. How do Defence Forces Engineer Corps tactically clear a route through a minefield? By using a Plofadder, an explosive line charge that detonates mines and other devices. More updates on the exercise throughout the week

Congrats to all members of the Combat Engineer Course which concludes after 12 weeks in the SME today, in particular Cpl Ennis who was awarded the Pte McCormack award as Best Student. Well done to the Instructors & best wishes to the students for their future Defence Forces Engineer Corps career

Defence Forces Engineer Corps from 2 Fd Engr Coy conducting final rehearsals and preparations ahead of NATO OCC National Evaluation in Kilworth Camp next week. In the words of a famous Cork man "Fail to prepare, prepare to fail" #trainhardfighteasy

Clear skies in Kilworth for 2 Fd Engr Coy mechanised convoy enroute to FOB Sapper for NATO Operational Capabilities Concept (OCC) National Evaluation (NEL). Over the next 72hrs Defence Forces Engineer Corps will be evaluated on our interoperability as a Military Engineering Combat Support Coy

What's the quickest way to get an Infantry Assault Bridge to FOB Sapper for operations? That's where Irish Air Corps support comes in, with 2 Fd Engr Coy Landing Point Commanders marshalling the heli and in direct communication with the pilots throughout to ensure all goes to plan

Congrats to 2 Fd Engr Coy who completed the NATO OCC evaluation last week, and was deemed interoperable as a Combat Engineer Company. Following the NEL, Col McEvoy, D Engr presented all members of the Company with a commemorative Defence Forces Engineer Corps challenge coin for their efforts

As part of the Infrastructure Development Plan, the Forward Operating Base in Kilworth Camp has recently undergone a €1.5m investment to create a legacy training facility for Óglaigh na hÉireann activities. The two videos show a timelapse of the 12 week build and the final product

Last week, Defence Forces Engineer Corps from 1 & 2 Bde Engr Gps conducted a Swiftwater Rescue Technician Course, accredited by @Rescue3europe. This qualification enables Óglaigh na hÉireann to deploy in ATCA to support local authorities following flooding, as happened in Co Cork back in October
