Today we’ve said a huge farewell to Station Manager Julia Smith who retires after almost 23 years. Julia who has been our Station Manager responsible for fire investigation, joined DFRS as a trainee Firefighter in May 2001.

Great to catch up with Simon Hare from BBC East Midlands this morning with our lovely friends at RoyalSchoolDeafDerby He’s at the school covering a collaboration between the school and Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service which could be lifesaving for members of the deaf community.

Well well well- after learning #BSL with us at RoyalSchoolDeafDerby since September. The first wave of BSL champions have taken their 101 BSL exam today! We wish them all luck! Mick Wyldbore-Wood 👍🤞

Great to catch up with DFRS @BSLChampions at RoyalSchoolDeafDerby today. Lots of ideas on how we can implement BSL into what we do at Derbyshire Fire & Rescue Service and welcome news that the group have picked it up well enough to take their 1st exam early!
