The fuzzy pink catkins of Salix gracilistyla 'Mount Aso', commonly known as Japanese Pink Pussy Willow, are looking wonderful in the Alpinium Garden and make quite an interesting and eye-catching winter feature. In time, these silky little catkins will turn grey/yellow.

Residents and drivers would have seen another hedgerow laying session taking place along A635 Doncaster Road today. This traditional skill, which plays a crucial role in countryside management, was part of a training session organised by the Barnsley Council's PROW team.
