The next three reports are all transport related. The first is all about improving cycle access in and around Upper Parliament St, Catherine St & Princes Rd – improving traffic flow and having a positive impact on all road users. lpoolcouncil.info/4bjOLKU

I don’t normally get involved in calling out headlines but it’s just getting bonkers. If this was directed at a gender, race or religion it would be rightly called out as the hate speech it is. Mums, dads, sons and daughters being labelled as killers. It’s just got to stop.

THE LARGEST UK KIDICAL MASS EVER WOW that was absolutely incredible The message is clear - families want safer streets to cycle in Greater Manchester

It's been nearly 2 years since Harry Doyle 🌹🏳️‍🌈 and councillor Barrington went to check out Walthamstow. In that time Liverpool City Council has completed less than 1 mile of bike lanes, not brought in parking restrictions in city centre! Carl Cashman should have a field day!

1/ Corruption and cover up in L8?? Update!! Hatherley Street and Ducie Street July 2019 was when I first heard the name West Tree Estates (WTE). Many in the local community were horrified at their planning application for Ducie Street and campaigned against it.

"Cyclists don't use cycle tracks?" Er, here's me on the new cycle track adjacent to the A27 near Eastbourne today and no motorists on the road! bestbritishbikerides.com/2024/07/31/pho… (Well, couple in the distance, and more soon arrived! But, still ...)

Has anyone spotted any of our local councillors out and about or promoting #CycleToWorkDay today? We've got all this best-in-class infrastructure & just launched LCWIP, so there must have been some promotion or some events for today. And finally Knowsley Council and Wirral Council is a no from them for #CycleToWorkDay £70 million spent somewhere and not 1 of our regions councils has promoted it! Speaks volumes!

Dutch authorities now recommend a minimum cycle lane width of 230 cm (each direction) to allow for side-by-side riding and comfortable passing. Studies have shown the wider the lane, the lower the safety risk: each 10% increase reduces collisions by 13%. dutchcycling.nl/knowledge/blog…

We are never going back From today, we will see a complete overhaul in how how we fund and deliver active travel But what else can we do to build on this momentum to make active travel for everyone?

It might be nearly 10 years (maybe more!) In the making, but that 10 yards of tarmac made my heart skip a beat this morning, before becoming a little bit still. If you know where it is, you know.
