We know we’ve been quiet-ish recently, now we can tell you why. On Feb 11 CUEFA held a vote of no confidence in CUE President Dr. Tim Loreman’s leadership. 91% of members registered to vote and 90% voted that they have NO confidence in his leadership.

There are 4 main areas of concern: a toxic workplace culture, the President’s failure to effectively manage the core operations of the University, the financial mismanagement of the institution and the damage done to relations between CUE and key stakeholders.

While our historic strike resulted in important changes for our members it did not address ongoing problems of leadership.

Good news everyone! According to our Board Chair (who was appointed by our University President), everything is fine. There’s nothing to see and the Faculty just need to “move past recent tensions”. No need to actually talk to the Faculty about concerns. #gaslit

The strike is over. UOITFA has an agreement that avoids the concessions we were expected to make on supervision and course loads, and strengthens the process to correct unequal pay. I'm proud of my union's bargaining team and membership for the work it took to get to this point.
