For the avoidance of doubt: there was never a policy to “rip out” existing gas boilers. The 2035 phase out date is about stopping *new* boilers being installed.

“I find it shocking and really disappointing,” says Al Gore on PM Rishi Sunak delaying climate action. “He’s done the wrong thing. I’ve heard from many of my friends in the UK – including a lot of Conservative Party members, by the way – who have used the phrase ‘utter disgust’.”

Great piece by Eric Lonergan that gives a very different read of Sunak's green reversals. Basically, its BS because of falling renewables costs, so have your populist moment, it doesn't matter for net zero.

What’s most welcome about the Supreme Court judgment in the Rwanda case is that it makes plain that the root law is *not* just the ECHR and the Human Rights Act but a number of international treaties ratified by the UK alongside a number of domestic statutes giving them effect.

The video episode of Leading with former heads of MI5 & MI6 drops this Monday at 6am. But before then, a question: We're all familiar with MI5 and MI6... but what ever happened to MI1, 2, 3 & 4? 🔍🕵️‍♂️

1) Labour is implementing almost all the policy recommendations from Supercharge Me: Net Zero Faster. Allowing the Crown Estate to deploy leverage effectively creates a non-trivial NWF. GB Energy etc, will reduce the cost of capital for renewables.
