In 2003, the Galiano Conservancy purchased the Great Beaver Swamp & surrounding forest, protecting one of the island's largest wetlands forever. The Islands Trust Conservancy and Habitat Acquisition Trust (HAT) hold a conservation covenant on the 18 hectare reserve, adding a second layer of protection. 👏
