At our May meeting of Laois County Council, I proposed this important motion calling for fairness for farming families in the ‘Fair Deal’ nursing home scheme in assessing leased farmland. This is a very important issue which I will continue to raise with the Minister for Health.

Further to the recent motion which I proposed at a Laois County Council meeting calling on the Government to deliver on the long-promised N80 bypass of Mountmellick, our local TDs must ensure that the Mountmellick bypass is included in the National Development Plan review.

⚠️🚧Great news yesterday from my Fine Gael colleague Minister Jerry Buttimer TD that an additional €561,698 has been allocated to Laois County Council for Local Improvement Schemes on non-public roads. Many farm families in Laois will benefit from this funding. Cllr Conor Bergin

I am delighted to announce that I am officially opening my new legal practice Conor Bergin Solicitor at 71 Main Street, Portlaoise. It is a huge privilege to be part of Main Street in our county town, and I have always believed that small businesses are the best businesses.

I had the pleasure of speaking to the Portlaoise Women’s Shed group this morning about wills and probate. It was great to take their thoughtful questions and discuss how proper planning can really make a difference in terms of your wishes and tax planning.
