Little tip for you: always leave (roughly) 100-200ms of silence before the first audible sound in your song Lets say your song starts with a kick, Soundcloud (for example) will cut off the first few milliseconds of the song on playback, which is the strike/attack of the kick

Little tip for you: if you are using a dynamic EQ (like TDR Nova) to reduce a resonance on a drum, then it's usually best to use minimum phase mode with medium attack (to allow the transient to pass through) and a medium/slow release (to target the ringing / sustain of the drum)

Little tip for you: If your Kick and bass are properly time aligned and phase aligned, then perhaps you don't 'need' that side-chain on the bass? If they are cooperating instead of competing then they can combine into one powerful unified force that pushes and pulls together.

Little tip for you Synth not cutting through the mix? Duplicate synth track, you now have synth A and synth B (Duplicate) Pitch the 'B' up one octave, heavily distort B and add reverb on B 100% wet, widen B and heavily compress B, turn down B and blend it in behind original A

Little tip for you: Using EQ will introduce artifacts Minimum phase EQ (most common) introduces post ringing and phase shift Linear phase EQ introduces delay and pre-ringing on transients Choose your poison, which artifact is the least disruptive for your track?

Does your mix suck or do you just need a break? Do you have a practical method for evaluating this? Can you read the signs of your own stress levels well enough to decide which it is? When you have high levels of cortisol your ability to evaluate audio decreases (a lot)

Consistent harsh frequency: EQ Temporary harsh frequency: dynamic EQ (TDR nova) Consistent group of harsh frequencies: EQ / volume rebalance Temporary group of harsh frequencies: multi-band compressor (Sonnox supresser) Unpredictable and chaotic harsh frequencies: Soothe2
