WO2 Nick C joined the Regiment 4 years ago, on completion of 23 years service with the Queen’s Royal Hussars.

The post of SSM covers a broad spectrum of tasks, including maintenance of discipline, career management, admin and the delivery of training.

It’s not often we get the opportunity for a post like this, but today, well, we do.

This weekend, LCpl Tommy M, of A Sqn, in Ayr, married Sophie. He invited the team from A to share their day, and this photo with us.

They’re a tight bunch, the A Team.

During his time in the Regiment, Nick has taken part in UK based exercises and courses and represented the Regiment at several high profile events.

Having spent the day yesterday tuning in their comms skills, with both our HF and VHF radios, today, our team are against the clock, conducting a NAVEX.

Communication and navigation are vital skills for a recce soldier, but like all skills, they need to be maintained.

When not working at E Sqn, Nick is an ambulance technician with the Scottish Ambulance Service, a role which sees him responding to myriad incidents across his area of responsibility.

Prior to that, both Angus and Tpr Alasdair T had been competing at the Army Scotland Climbing Championships.

During what was a fantastic day competing against climbers from units based in Scotland, Angus and Alasdair gave an excellent account of themselves.

This week, in Cupar, the OC C Sqn, Maj Graeme H awarded the VRSM to Sgt Chris N and was able to present fourth bars to the medal to Sgt’s Alan G and Raymond I.

It was certainly a wonderful Wednesday yesterday for C Sqn’s Aberdeen Tp.

During a visit by the OC C and families from the troop, Lt Angus W commanded a short parade and delivered a families brief to mark the one year anniversary of their formation.

In a tight competition for the combined open/ expert category, Alasdair secured a close second place, with Angus being beaten by one hold to miss the podium and came fourth.

To add to the sense of occasion, he was also able to present Raymond with a certificate to mark twenty years of service as a Civil Servant.

Lastly, the man himself. Graeme was also awarded the VRSM for his contribution to the Squadron, Regiment and the Reserve.
