The #Leishmaniasis Eastern Africa Platform (LEAP) is turning 20. With over 60 members, it has been strengthening clinical research capacity in limited resource settings in Africa.

Members will be converging for the 28th LEAP meeting in 🇰🇪 from 29 October to 1 November, 2023.

Overcoming challenges in financing to #beatNTDs will require:
✔️ Building trust in different sectors
✔️ Capacity building
✔️ Joint funding proposals
✔️ Country ownership

Policy makers, researchers, donors, media, communities & #HCWs must unite for neglected patients. #NNN2023

Domestic resourcing for #NTDs is one of the home grown solutions to funding programs for neglected patients.

Uniting to Combat Neglected Tropical Diseases continues to encourage countries & institutions to:
✅ support investment for NTDs
✅ endorse the #KigaliDeclaration
✅ contribute to the commitment tracker

The fight against #NTDs requires a wholistic approach, innovation & collaboration.

Africa CDC side event addressed the alarming rise of climate-sensitive infectious diseases in Africa, highlighting major outbreaks often linked to El Niño & La Niña cycles. Recent flooding and droughts have exacerbated the crisis.

At the Africa CDC #OneHealth approach & climate health threats side event, 𝔻𝕣. 𝔸𝕙𝕞𝕖𝕕 𝕆𝕘𝕨𝕖𝕝l - FAPH noted:

✅ the conversation on climate & health nexus should be an agenda item at COP28.
